Christmas Jubilee

Christmas Jubilee is a giving opportunity for all to share in. The Deacons of the church are preparing to enter into a covenant relationship with families that we will come to know in cooperation with MINC (Ministry in the North Country) and Helping Hands. You can participate not only with monetary assistance but also with your time and talents in this fine ministry. During the Advent season you will find in the pew racks, envelopes designated for Jubilee in which you can place monetary donations. We will again have available alternate gift cards for you to give to family and friends acknowledging your gift given in their name. Christmas Jubilee is under the guidance of the Deacons but is a ministry of all the people of The First Presbyterian Church Potsdam.

Transportation Assistance

Again this year the Deacons will be establishing a list of folks willing to give assistance transporting members and friends to and from worship services or other church activities. If you can help with this ministry please sign up on the sheet outside the conference room bulletin board or on the table in the rear of the Church. Those needing rides please contact a Deacon or the church office with your name, phone number and address.

The Work of the Deacons

When the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Colassae he mentioned immediately (I:3) that he and Timothy had been praying for the folk there. In chapter four of the same letter he requested that the congregation of that church pray in turn for him and Timothy.

Prayer was an important part of their daily lives as they went about serving the Lord. we too have opportunities (and responsibility) to pray for one another.

The Deacons maintain a prayer chain, which is now being coordinated by Louise Straub. If you have specific requests for prayers for yourself or others, please call Louise Straub at 265-4022, Pastor Rich or Tammy Liscum at 265-9494.
