Kitchen Patrol
To make the kitchen more user friendly, the Ladies Guild has posted content signs on all the drawers and cabinet doors. The group inspects the refrigerator once a month and cleans the kitchen from top to bottom periodically. They could use your help to keep the kitchen in "apple pie" order!

Nursery Clean Up
Some of our kitchen "angels" also have "adopted" the nursery area - making sure it is in top shape. Recently they replaced the broken crib with a donated crib.
We have been blessed with a congregation full of young children and we are pleased to be able to provide them with a nursery to play in. Recently we agreed to allow the Headstart program to use the nursery in the mornings Monday through Friday to work with a special needs child. Therefore, we are asking for your help in making sure the nursery is picked up each Sunday after the church service. Thank you for your help. |
We Need Your Help in Keeping Our Church Center Neat and Clean
Thank you for helping the Ladies Guild keep the Center a welcoming area for our activities and the community. Your help will be even more important over the next few months, as our worship is moved to the Center. There has been improvement in keeping the refrigerator free of leftovers, and straightening up the sitting areas. The Nursery is still somewhat inconsistent. We ask that if your children enjoy playing in the nursery, that you help them put away all the toys on the shelves or in the appropriate bins. Headstart continues to bring in special needs students every day – it also helps Ron keep the floor clean. We also are being blessed with a baby-and-small children boom, and need to keep the Nursery safe!
Helping Hands List:
- If food needs to be saved for another church event, please label it with the sharpie pen on the refrigerator
- If there are coffee hour leftovers you don’t want to take home, why not find someone who would be blessed with taking it home. Too often we just end up throwing away leftovers, which we hate to do! (BIG improvement in this area!!!)
- If your children enjoy playing in the nursery during coffee hour, they can help by putting away all small toys on the shelves or in the appropriate bins. Headstart now brings a special needs student there every day – it also helps our part time custodian, Ron, keep the floor clean. (Sporatic improvement - children probably need more supervision in putting away small toys.)
- Straighten up the cushions, throw pillows and magazine table will greatly improve the Center’s appearance and provide a comfortable place for visitors and church family members to fellowship.
- Wash the tables after use.
- Stack the hymnals and songbooks on the table near the steps after worship.
We appreciate your “helping hands” as we all strive to leave our church home better than we find it! THANK YOU for your continuing help!
Nativity Quilt
On December 18, the Ladies Guild hung the first quilt of a series they hope to do. Each quilted hanging will represent one season of the church year, beginning with this Advent-Christmas scene. Many of our members had a part in its creation, including: Pam Whittet, Betty Fraser, Fran Stowe, Jane Wells, Gail Schaberg, Helen Brouwer, Amy Walker, and Laura Toland. Many hands lightened the work! We hope to have a second hanging completed by Easter.
The Fall Rummage Sale
A big THANKS to all who helped with the rummage back in October, through their donations, hours of sorting, baked goods for the snack bar, taking a shift during the days of the sale, and clean-up. It looked to us to be possibly the largest sale in recent times with many varied and wonderful items. Thanks to the smiling faces of the workers, and the knowledge that a portion of the sales was going to hurricane relief, the customers seemed to be quite happy with the sale. As we closed up shop on Friday, the last bargain hunters were invited to take home anything they wished for free, which also sped up the clean up. Some items were boxed up, and are being stored in the basement or at the Walkers for next spring and fall sales. The total income was around $2400 (with a few things still out on consignment), and the Guild will be sending at least a tithe to some specific church that suffered hurricane damage, as well as our prayers and friendship. More information on that project to follow!

Ladies Guild Meetings
When we’re not rummaging, the Guild is preparing the Parish Paper for mailing, sewing baby quilts, checking the kitchen and refrigerator twice a month, rolling bandages for Africa, and decorating the center and sanctuary for Advent. This year we hope to begin a collection of quilted liturgical hangings.
We meet on the first and third Thursday of each month, from 9am to 11:30am, and we welcome women of all ages. Our meeting room has been changed to the conference room.
The Ladies Guild is looking for new members. Ladies, please consider joining this group!
