Stewardship in Our HeartsA reminder: Our Church is different
from other social organizations. We are the ONLY organization committed to the
Gospel and to God. While other community organizations do wondrous things and
perform needed services, our commitment to our Church should represent the first
fruits of our God-given gifts. | Can you

Attendance
in Church - November, 2005
The Stewardship Committee thanks everyone for
their participation in Potsdam First’s Stewardship Program. One of
the ways we can fulfill A Covenant for Personal Life is by making sure we don’t
miss coming to church every Sunday. Worship not only reminds us of God’s
enduring presence and love, it also helps us commune with people we love and want
to be with. As stated on your Covenants paper, “Because God has given
me life and called me to be a steward of life, I make a covenant to grow and change
in my personal life by…..attending Sunday worship regularly. For
the month of November attendance was: - December 4 - 131
- December
11 - 162
- December 18 - 144
- December 25 - 57
Highlights
from the 2004 Stewardship, Wills & Memorials Committee Report - Other
than fundraising, the Committee's major project was to initiate the concept of
promoting stewardship throughout the year. The focus of the project was time,
talent and treasure, with four covenants, each lasting three months. It was pointed
out that these promises would be highlighted during each quarter, but would never
be finished. The four covenants--personal, public, community and financial lives--represent
the keystones of this yearlong stewardship concept. Hopefully the seed has been
planted which will become a perpetual program for future years.
- The unfilled
positions of Chair of Finance and Treasurer are now filled, and the Committee,
along with the Session, have adopted long-term goals for planning.
- As
of 01/23/05, the pledge campaign stood at $135,000 for Operating, and $8358 for
the Second Century Fund. Hopes are that when all the outstanding pledges come
in, we will be able to meet the projected $137,000 in income needed for operating
expenses.
- Memorial Gifts in 2004 included: - choir folders and a festival
hymn cantata (in memory of Ruth Kreuzer's mother, Ura Hinkle
- the Zimbelstern
(bells operated from the organ) donated by the Kreuzers (in memory of Ura Hinkle),
the Tolands (in memory of Helene Seidel and Caroline Toland), and the Yaws (in
memory of their grandson, Donald) - memorial quilts and artwork were made
or purchased by the Ladies Guild (in memory of Elsa Gibson and Caroline Riggs);
these items now enhance our Center, making it a more attractive and inviting facility The
Committee continues to address the issues of providing the revenue to fund our
Church programs. All ideas and personal efforts are welcome. Your support and
generosity will play a key role in our success of keeping to our mission of service
in His name and keeping Potsdam Presbyterian FIRST. Respectively submitted,
