    Yoga Lab is a class for all levels, beginners included! The first 60-minutes are all about finding structural alignment in yoga postures accompanied by time and pause for reflection. The forces of nature govern our bodies functions and well-being. There is an expanding force, a contracting force, a grounding and a rising force. We can look at each asana and see these forces working within our bodies. It’ is when we most efficiently harness the forces of nature inside of us that we can begin to move efficiently and sustainably through our lives! The final half hour will be a guided meditation inspired by the techniques of Yoga Nidra. A deep rest and reset.

    Zazen Silent Sitting Meditation

    Each session will begin with the Heart Sutra followed by two silent meditation periods of zazen separated by a brief kinhin, or walking meditation.

    If you have ever said to yourself during guided meditation, "I wish they would be quiet; I'm trying to meditate here" then Zazen is for you.

    A variety of seating is available, or you can bring your own.

    This sitting is open to the community for a free-will donation.

    Ecstatic Dance

    Ecstatic Dance invites you to an experience of free dance, moving meditation, creative exploration and self-expression, and joy in community, to the sounds of a wide range of non-lyrical music.

    We will hold a non-verbal, barefoot, safe space, where you are free to dance, move, or be still, as you feel. Wear comfortable, creative clothes, and bring water.

    Facilitated by Morgan Doyle and Joya Blondel

    Suggested donation $10. All are welcome.

    Morgan’s intention is to guide students toward the center of their experience, which is an inherent state of calm found in the stillness of the mind. No previous yoga experience is required; all are considered equal.

    Class will include movement and meditation.

    Morgan's Vinyasa classes focus on nervous system regulation through a balance of movement and stillness. Her teaching style is influenced by the school under which she studies; Prana Vinyasa®, developed by Dance Anthropologist Shiva Rae, as well as her dedicated studentship to Yoga Nidra and Elemental Theory. Morgan’s classes take into consideration the current solar and lunar cycles and their influence on our collective embodiment.

  • Yin Yoga and Qigong

    Yin Yoga and Quigong is based on Daoyin, an ancient Shamanic practice that means leading and guiding, using five element theory.  practice activates our spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional consciousness,  This class is Doe’s adaptation of Yin yoga, incorporating the Sufi seven Lataif methodology and Qigong to activate our spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional consciousness. The unique Yin poses help target vital psycho-spiritual organs via the body’s fascia lines and meridians.

    Yin Yoga and Qigong is newcomer friendly! Our first class on May 7 will be informational, where you will have the opportunity to learn more about me, the practice, ask questions and experience a one on one, hands on, structural body alignment.

    Bio and background:

    Doe has been studying and teaching for over two decades. Her training is traditional, emphasizing learning by actively practicing to reach a high level of experience and mastery as a teacher. Doe’s knowledge stems from a deep understanding of the roots, origins, and applications of Daoyin, an ancient Shamanic practice that means leading and guiding using the five element theory.

    Doe has a strong academic back ground in micro and molecular biology and is a trained cytogenic technologist. She has studied human psychology and behavior, Chinese traditional medicine, martial arts and is guided by aa deep Sufi spiritual path.

    Doe’s approach to teaching is nonjudgmental, flexible, and compassionate, with the intention of being in the moment while maintaining the integrity of feelings and the experience. She strives to live an organic, sustainable life, nurturing body, spirit, and mind with awareness, believing life is to be lived and enjoyed.

    Doe has certification in spinning, Reiki II, and 1,000 + hours teacher training in Yin Yoga, Qigong, Sabaki and Enshin Karate.

    Wednesday Unwind is a relaxing yoga class incorporating pranayama, meditation, mindfulness, and several yoga styles from gentle to Yin to vinyasa flow. the aim is to destress midweek, allowing us to finish the week with a calm mind, reduced physical tension, and peaceful outlook. Please arrive a few minutes early to settle in. 

    Kelly Burnham is a 500-hour E-RYT and a NAMA board-certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor.

    With over ten years experience teaching yoga, she brings a broad background to her classes, including specialties, prenatal yoga and social justice in yoga.
    Drop ins welcome. $15 drop in, or $120 for a ten class card.

    Lori is passionate about yoga and wellness. She is a certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), Hypnotist, and 400 hour RYT YACEP teacher, registered with Yoga Alliance.

    Yoga has been a lifestyle for the majority of her life, practicing yoga regularly since 1988, and teaching since 2014.

    Originally from Canada, Lori loves to travel, hosting international Yoga and Wellness Retreats. She teaches yoga in person and remotely, also coaching remotely, and instructing online

    classes of Mindfulness & Meditation and Wellness & Intuitive Coaching for a college in Arizona.

    Pilates concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on posture, balance, and flexibility. This 40 minute class will help improve overall strength and fitness while incorporating a mind- body connection through breathing and mindfulness.

    Alisha is Pilates-certified through the American Sports and Fitness Association. She has 20 years of experience instructing group fitness classes. Alisha teaches 6th grade and is the mother of three daughters. She is happy to offer these classes to the Potsdam community.

    Facing the Present with Heart

    Please join us in Facing the Present with Heart: a mindful listening circle, in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. We will practice breathing meditation to reduce stress and facilitate understanding and compassion. And we will listen deeply and mindfully to each other as we share how we’re feeling, our struggles, joys and sorrows, hopes and fears.

    Facilitated by Jenna Joya Blondel, PhD, Minister of Walking Prayer and healing arts practitioner at Trillium.

    Facing the Present with Heart will also be held the first Sunday of the month, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in Canton at the Unitarian Universalist Church.

    Kat Catimon, SWEAT Fitness Teacher, has been instructing group fitness classes for almost nine years, mostly strength & circuit training and indoor cycling. In her own life, Kat’s training includes weight lifting and she is an avid hiker.

    SWEAT Fitness classes are upbeat and leave you more energized than when you started. The classes use bodyweight and minimal equipment to improve your strength and overall fitness. Progressions and thoughtful movements will have your muscles burning in no time! This class is for moderate to advanced fitness levels with various modifications for those looking to improve.

Pilates and More with Rebecca MacDougall

Rebecca Mac Dougall provides personalized, one-on-one, fitness sessions for people 50 and over. Rebecca believes in meeting each person where they are and helping them improve. Rebecca MacDougall, a long-term resident of Colton, is a movement specialist with years of combined experience as a former professional dancer, physical therapist assistant and Pilates practitioner.  Rebecca received her BA in Dance from SUNY Potsdam with continuing studies at the University of the Arts in PA and NYC pursuing a career in musical theatre, opera and drama.  Over time, Rebecca decided to combine her love of movement and helping people and returned to academics to achieve her AAS in Physical Therapist Assistant from SUNY Canton.  She has worked both for St. Lawrence Health System and Claxton-Hepburn Medical Campus.
